Scholarships and Loans

In conjunction with Kentucky's state-supported institutions of higher education, Minority Educator Recruitment and Retention provides eligible in-state students scholarships of up to $5,000 per year towards initial teacher certification.  There is a service component (in-kind service to state public school settings for the number of semesters/years funds are accepted) to help increase the number of educators available to teach in Kentucky's Schools.

Minority Educator and Recruitment and Retention Scholarship Common Concerns and Questions
During the repayment of scholarship funds you may need to temporarily postpone or reduce your payments under certain circumstances. You may do this by requesting a deferment from the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority.
