The Campbellsville University's Transition to Teaching program is a partnership with the Kentucky Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Education. 

The goal is to recruit and retain highly qualified para-professionals, recent college graduates and mid-career professionals to teach children with Learning Behavior Disorders (LBD) in high-poverty, high-need Kentucky school districts.

Masters of Arts in Special Education (MASE)

The MASE Program is a rigorous preparation program that:

  • Consists of blended online classes
  • Offers classes in 10-week sessions
  • Provides opportunities to participate in field experiences
  • Engages students with faculty in professional collaboration through weekly online course sessions
  • Offers video teleconferencing seminars for face to face professional development
  • Leads to P-12 Learning and Behavior Disorders (LBD) certification

Target Audience

  • Recent college graduate
  • Mid-career professional
  • Para-professional

Admission to The Program

  • Admission to Graduate studies
  • Official college/university transcripts (2.5 GPA)
  • Graduate Record Exam, Praxis scores, or National Teacher's Examination scores
  • Letters of recommendation (3)
  • One-page personal essay on purposes/goals for graduate study
  • Criminal background check
  • TB skin test
  • Interview with graduate faculty

  • One time scholarship of $5,000 (if eligible)
  • Two years mentoring available to scholarship recipients
  • Ongoing assistance and support from mentors and faculty
  • Master's Degree in area of Special Education (LBD)
