NEW Updated 2008 - Program Effectiveness Review for Kentucky Schools

Last Updated on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at 5:01 AM

Literacy PERKS (Program Effectiveness Review for Kentucky Schools) is designed for use by school and district reviewers. At the school level, the best use of Literacy PERKS occurs when Literacy Team members complete the review and use the results to develop a school wide literacy plan.

An accompanying Literacy PERKS Booklet guides The Literacy Team (see section seven) in developing a needs-driven school/district Literacy Plan (see standard nine).

The Nine Literacy Standards are as follows:
* These are very large files with videos and will take some time to download.

•   Standard One - Aligned Curriculum

•   Standard Two - Multiple Assessments

•   Standard Three - Instruction & Targeted Intervention

•   Standard Four - Literate Environment

•   Standard Five - School, Family and Community Partnerships

•   Standard Six - Professional Development

•   Standard Seven - Literacy Team

•   Standard Eight - Valuable Resources

•   Standard Nine - Literacy Plan

While the Nine PERKS Standards relate to the Standards in Kentucky's Standards and Indicators for School Improvement, the indicators below each PERKS Standard do not correspond to the SISI indicators.
