Information and professional development opportunities for preschool teachers and administrators

The Education Professional Standards Board was established as part of the 1990 Kentucky Education Reform Act to oversee the education profession. EPSB is the standards and accreditation agency for Kentucky teachers and administrators and for programs of education at Kentucky colleges and universities.

The The New Teacher Standards for Preparation and CertificationInterdisciplinary Early Childhood Education (IECE) Birth to Primary reflect performances expected of educators within a variety of environments, including classrooms, childcare settings, the children's homes, hospitals, or any other natural environments.  Within these environments, instruction will include individual child activities, parent-child activities, and instruction in small and large groups.

Kentucky Internship Program (KTIP) for First Year Teachers

The Kentucky Teacher Internship Program (KTIP) is designed to provide assistance to new teachers. Its main goal is to help new teachers experience a successful first year in the classroom.

Traineeship Program funds are available to help defray part of the tuition costs at state institutions.  IECE Traineeships are available for teachers and administrators pursuing an initial IECE certificate while working with children with disabilities in the state-funded preschool or Head Start program.

Scholarships for teacher aides through KIDS NOW.

IECE Teacher Registry This registry is available to any teachers who hold the IECE certification or statement of eligibility in Kentucky.  The IECE Certified Teacher Registry will help alleviate teacher shortages by matching certified teachers with preschool openings throughout Kentucky.
