SITES FOR KIDS
Top 10 Internet Sites for Families
The library media specialists who serve on the AASL FamiliesConnect Committee have selected and described these 10 Top Internet sites. The sites include hundreds of recreational and educational links for preschool children through high school age. These sites may provide assistance to complete homework, help students learn more about personal topics of interest, give opportunities to read stories and articles written by children, and supply information to parents and other adults on safe and effective Internet use by children.
The American Library Association's Great Sites for Kids
lists 700-plus sites-from arts and entertainment to science and technology-compiled by the Children and Technology Committee of the Association for Library Service to Children.
KID's WAVE
features a partial list—organized by age-appropriateness-of sites that have received the SafeSurf seal of approval.
/Yahooligans
includes listings for hundreds of Web sites for kids and teens. Sites are categorized by subject (sports, television, and the like), with an ever-changing list of featured sites.
Mamamedia
features a variety of fun and creative activities for kids, along with a search tool that links to a collection of Web sites for children 10 and under.
